Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya was a national leader and a great freedom fighter. Malaviya is known for great achievements, such as founding Banaras Hindu University. He was a politician, educational, and an advocate of his espousal of Hindu nationalism. He was the President of the Indian National Congress for four times. He was one of the founders of Scouting in Indian. He also founded a highly influential, English-newspapers, The Leader, published from Allahabad in 1909. Like many of the contemporary leaders of Indian National Congress he was a Moderate. He was one of the important figure in the Non-cooperation movement of Mahatma Gandhi. He also represented Indian at the First Round Table Conference in 1931. He was a member of the Imperial Legislative Council and later of Central Legislative Assembly. Later in life, he was also addressed as `Mahamana`. A postage stamp was printed in his honour.
