Amitabh Rajan studied at the Jawaharlal Nehru University and received his M.A. (Modern History) and Ph.D. (Social Systems degrees. He has been in theIndian Administrative Service since 1979 and has taught Economic History at two central universities before 1979. His research currently concentrates on the Human Rights of the incapax persons. He has held important positions at the local, state and central levels of administration and is, presently, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of the National Scheduled Castes Finance and Development Corporation, New Delhi.
