Dr. Chinmoy Roy at present is Professor of Accounting and Finance in the Department of Commerce, Tripura (Central) University. He cleared the National Eligibility Test (both JRF and L) in the year 1993 and awarded the doctoral degree (Ph.D.) by Assam (Central) University in the year 2000. He has experience in teaching both undergraduate and postgraduate and professional courses in commerce and management for over two decades. He also served as Deputy Superintendent of Police under the Tripura Police Cadre for more than 8 years and then promoted to Addl. S.P (Grade-1). He also served as faculty member at various academic institutes namely Belonia Government Degree College, Tripura (Central) University, Agartala and Assam (Central) University, Silchar. His area of academic interests are accounting and reporting practices, public sector enterprises and issues of banking and finance in which he has published more than 25 research articles in journals of national and international repute. He has completed research project on "Cost Accounting Model of Small and Tiny Sector Units" financially supported by UGC. He is the co-author (with Prof. S.S. Khanka) of Working Capital Management of Public Enterprises (1999). He has been life member of a number of accounting bodies and has been in consultant to several public and private organizations. He has also presented several papers in national and international seminars and conferences.
