Dr. Debaprasad Sarkar has 21 years of teaching experience and currently is the Associate Professor of Economics, and Ex-head in Department of Economics, Barrackpore Rastraguru Surendranath College, West Bengal, India. Dr. Sarkar did his Ph.D. degree from Jadavpur University, Kolkata and received D.Litt. (Hony.) from United Nation University for Global Peace-USA. His major areas of research are Health Economics, Development Economics, Economics of Internal Displacement, Environmental Economics and Resource Economics. He has about 35 publications in Journals like Australasian Journal of Disaster and Trauma Studies, World Journal of Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences, Journal of The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Journal of The Asiatic Society of Mumbai, and in different UGC-Care Journals, etc., and in several edited Books like Springer Nature, Routledge, Taylor & Francis Group, Himalaya Publishing House, etc. He had completed few research projects funded by ICSSR, UGC and other funding agencies. He has Executive Editor of Journal of Economic and Business Issues, ISSN: 0974-9144. He has served as Convener of Research Monitoring Cell and Bursar (Finance Officer) of the college for the last five years. He has earned reputation in academic and research fields and has been awarded some prestigious award like ‘Best Social Scientist - 2022’ by IARA, Bharat Shiksha Gaurav Award 2021 by CIU, & Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Education Excellence Award 2020 by IBRF. He has been the Life Member of Bengal Economic Association, The Indian Health Economics and Policy Association and Advisory Member of BHUMIJA: A Social Welfare Organisation, etc.
