Goutam Sarkar

Dr. Goutam Sarkar is currently teaching at Department of Geography, Dr. Meghnad Saha College, Itahar, Uttar Dinajpur, West Bengal, India. The college is affiliated to the University of Gour Banga, Malda, West Bengal. Dr. Sarkar completed his Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) degree from the Department of Geography and Applied Geography at the University of North Bengal, Darjeeling, West Bengal. He is a former post-graduate (PG) Guest Lecturer in Geography and Environmental Studies at the Rabindra Bharati University, Directorate of Distance Education, study centre at Dr. Meghnad Saha College in West Bengal. He has authored many articles in reputed National and International journals and books. He has presented many prestigious research articles in National and International seminars and conferences. He has played important roles in diverse sectors.

His research focus is mainly on agricultural geography which is changing day by day due to population pressure on land and creating awareness among the people including developing different ways to reduce the rate of this change. He has a keen interest in Population Geography, Bio-Geography, Environmental Geography, Soil Geography, and Regional Geography. His knowledge and experience stand condensed in this book.
