Prof. Ramchandra H. Tupkary
Prof. R.H. Tupkary completed his graduation in Metallurgical Engineering from Banaras Hindu University in 1959 with distinction. He then obtained M.Eng.Sci in 1963 and Ph.D. in 1966 from University of Melbourne. He had short stints as lecturer and reader at BHU and the finally joined the Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering, Nagpur as Professor in 1970 and voluntarily retired as Head of Metallurgical Engineering in 1994 to become Managing Director of Marathi daily Tarun Bharat. He is best known all over the world as the writer of his two famous treatises, one on Modern Steelmaking and the other on Modern Ironmaking. He has also written several Marathi and English books that includes Organizational Intelligence and What They Ought to But Do Not Teach at the University published by present publishers. As a professor at VRCE, he was very active in Nagpur University. He was all through the Chairman Board of Studies and ipso facto member of Academic Council. He was elected twice as Dean - Faculty of Engineering, Member Senate and Executive Council. He was also twice considered for the post of Vice Chancellor. But for exterior considerations, he could not get through. Hence he knows the working of the university system as a whole through and through. He knows what presently ails the university system. He wrote a series of articles in Times of India, Nagpur in 2015-16 on university education. The present book is an extension of the same, giving more details.
