Sri Satyajit Mohanty, a 1988 batch IPS, is an Inspector Gereral of Police of Odisha Cadre. He has served several important positions in Odisha Police including Director of the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy. He has completed post graduation degree in Geology and LL.B. from Utkal University and Master of Human Rights from Pondicherry University. His areas of specialization include Human Rights, Victimology, Gender Studies and Police Reforms. His publications include three books: 1-Human Rights, 2-Police in India: Role Responsibility and Accountability (jointly with R.K. Mohanty), 3-Human Behavior and Police Ethics; and several research articles on his specializations. He is a guest resource person of National Police Academy, Hyderabad, and the training academies of Odisha. He has been nominated as a Member of the National Police Mission under MHA, Govt. of India, researching in the field of community policing. He is an alumnus of Maxwell School of Public Policy, Syracuse University, New York, as a part of the course requirement of Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore on Postgraduate Programe on Public Policy and Management (PGPPM).
