The subject of bibliotherapy is very much unfamiliar to many. Taking into consideration this fact I have written the first chapter entitled as “BIBLIOTHERAPY: AN INTRODUCTION.” In this chapter all facts regarding bibliotherapy has been referred to. My next chapter deals with the title “HISTORICAL BACKGROUND”. Full history, its origin, its development, its introduction to hospitals as well as in schools, etc., have been explained.

Bibliotherapy in the elementary, middle, and high-school classroom is used to foster healthy social and emotional growth in children and young adults to develop an insight, a deeper understanding of self, solutions to personal problems, development of life skills, or enhanced self-image. Bibliotherapy can be used to address students’ specific issues ranging from mild behavioural issues to physical and psychosocial conditions.

Bibliotherapy is the outcome of reading new and imaginative ideas in the form of story books into reality. It is characterised by the ability to perceive the work in new ways to make connections between seemingly unrelated phenomena, and to generate solutions. It involves two processes a thinking, then producing. Bibliotherapy is the process of bringing something new into being. It therefore, requires patience and commitment.
