Agricultural Science as a profession has been showing an active metamorphosis lately in the pandemic period. From visualizing agriculture as a stereotype to agriculture as a respectable employment, this science has proven its worthiness. Job seekers in agricultural sector must undergo rigorous competition to gain a meaningful employment.
Agricultural Extension and Communication is one of the disciplines gaining wider popularity among the students in agriculture and allied sectors existing in ICAR-SAU system as well as in NGOs and corporate sectors. The discipline has been always an applied science which consists of the contents drawn from research, field experiences, and principles derived from several sister branches for solving the problems of youth and adults. Hence, the subject needs an eagle view of understanding by the scholars and practitioners so that the existing knowledge can be nourished.
The present book “Extension Education: Ready Reckoner” is an intense and sincere effort to present the basic and advanced areas of extension education. The students who are aspiring to crack ICAR-JRF, ICAR-SRF, ICAR-NET, Agricultural Research Service (ARS), UGC-NET/JRF, Agricultural Universities PG and Ph.D. and other related entrance exams will be immensely benefitted who otherwise would have a tough time in planning, organizing and delineating the contents of the course. The book is an attempt to fill that gap and broad base the subject matter of the discipline in a question-answer format with better comprehension. This is unique feature of this book and makes it one of its own kind. The annexure consisting of mind, based on all probable questions which are being asked again and again in one or different form, is also included, which will help the students to make checklist of their syllabus coverage.
This first part covers chapters from six important units of syllabus: Basic Extension Concepts, Communication, Training and Human Resource Development, Research Methodology, Management and Gender. The rest of the units from syllabus will be entirely covered in the second part of this book, which is under process.
A holistic view of agricultural extension is being provided in the book including newer and specialized areas of the discipline, keeping in view the syllabus of the NET/ARS examination. Rigorous attempts have been made to clarify the theoretical concepts more lucidly. The book shall serve as one of the handbooks of ARS preparation. Further, it is expected that the contents of this book will lead the readers to new vistas in the discipline and to provide directions of thought while attempting the questions.
