The Foundation Course is a cumpulsory paper at the first and second year level in the faculty of Arts, Science and Commerce as well as in other related courses such as BMS, B.Com., BAF, BBI, BFM, BIM, etc. The course was introduced more than 2 decades ago for many reasons. One of the major objectives for introducing this course was to make the students aware of the various socio-economic issues that are important for our society and which directly or indirectly influence us. The foundation course also contain topics which are relevant for increasing our self-understanding and our psychological development. The subject of foundation course also deals with increasing one’s social and self-awareness that collectively develops our personality.

This revised course which has come into effect from the academic year 2016-2017 in the verious courses is based on semester pattern and each semester has been divided into various units. An overview of Indian society, concept of disparity and various issues associated with it, Indian Constitution and significant aspect of the political processes have been discussed with examples. Question paper pattern for each semester and standard of passing as per University Circular has been reproduced here separately along with the syllabus.
