Marudur Gopalamenon Ramachandran, commonly known, as MGR was a successful actor, director and greatly loved politician. MGR had over a 100 films to his credit. MGR joined Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), founded by C.N. Annadurai; his mentor. Later, he founded his own party, All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). Eventually, he became Tamil Nadu`s Chief Minister, and was in office, till his death. He was known to be a Philanthropist and active social developer. He was posthumously decorated with Bharat Ratna, the highest honour in India.
