The main purpose of this study is to examine existing pattern and extent of utilisation of mass media in two selected village i.e., Gangapur, a progressive village and Khandivav, a backward village of Nadiad taluka, Kheda district of Gujarat State. To examine the impact of communication, on agrarian economy, out of the total ten taluka of Kheda district, Nadiad Taluka was selected for the study, because of high media exposure, well developed infrastructural facilites, with agriculture and dairying as important economic activities. This particular taluka has one of the first TV transmitters in rural areas.
In the present study an attempt is made to examine the impact of mass media like newspapers, radio and television on agrarian economy in improving social and economic life of village people. It covers the areas of information through newspaper, radio and television to identify whether the existing media need to communicative improvement for enhancing agriculture productivity.
It is in this background, a study of role of communication in agrarian economic development, as contained in this book, is a great value.
