Algebra and Calculus are two of the most important fundamental branches of Mathematics. They provide the tools and language necessary to tackle a wide range of problems in various fields of science and engineering. From the mysteries of the physical universe to the intricacies of financial markets, algebra and calculus offer us the means to comprehend and analyse the complex relationships that govern our world.
This book covers most of the basic concepts of Algebra and Calculus and their applications, and is based on the new curriculum, prescribed by the Higher Education Council, Karnataka, according to the NEP (National Education Policy). The content of the book, to a large extent, adheres to the syllabus of the second semester Mathematics paper titled ‘Algebra-II and Calculus-II’.
Each topic in the book begins with an introduction, followed by some of the fundamental aspects pertaining to the topic. Further, a good number of worked examples are discussed to make the reader understand and comprehend the content and is then followed by an exercise containing unsolved problems to reinforce the learning and understanding of the discussed concepts and to challenge the reader to develop critical thinking and develop problem-solving skills so as to ensure a deeper understanding of the subject. At the end of the chapter, the solutions to each of the exercises are provided to allow the reader to assess his/her understanding by comparing their answers with those provided.
