It is `Business Law` all the way in its new avatar under 23rd Edition. Recent legal aura around with one or the other bureaucrat and/or political bigwig entangled in legal issues, Business Law has also not been behind as it has found a change with the administrators making the reader realize its importance not only in a classroom but beyond. But much awaited and needed change has been eyewash.

With due respects to the framers of the syllabus, my query to them is to ponder whether the object of overhauling of the syllabus has been attained? Looking at the breakup approach adopted, it is obvious that a change is only cosmetic, a farce and a fiasco.

While the intentions of giving importance to the Business Law in two semesters may be laudable, mere division of same subjects (with crucial and important deletion of topics) where is the aptitude and daring to venture into unexplored fields? Let us analyse the revised exercise −
Semester-III −
Contract Law − minus the spinal cord, that is, the topic on Breach of Contract-Consequences and Remedies.
Sales of Goods − minus the oxygen, that is, Suits for Breach of Contract and Auction Sales.
Negotiable Instruments − minus the limbs, that is, Parties to negotiable instruments and Dishonour of cheques.

The deleted topics are not only useful academically but above all practically whether or not legal career is pursued. The mindset of the framers of the syllabus is beyond conception as on the one hand they extend subject to two semesters underlining its importance but on the other hand shrink the study and deprive the budding students of legal aura which flows only from the deleted topics.
