It gives us immense pleasure to present the First Edition of “Accountancy & Financial Management-IV”, prepared exclusively for the students of S.Y.BCOM., Semester IV, University of Mumbai. This book has been designed as per the Revised Syllabus and Paper Pattern introduced under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, applicable from the academic year 2025–26.
The book aims to provide a clear and systematic understanding of the corporate accounting aspects related to the redemption of preference shares and debentures in accordance with the provisions of the Companies Act, 2013 and the Companies (Share Capital and Debentures) Rules, 2014. Structured into two Modules, the book encompasses the key aspects of Corporate Redemption Accounting. Module 1 focuses on the Redemption of Preference Shares, explaining the legal provisions, various methods of redemption, utilization of profits, and calculation of the minimum fresh issues required for redemption. Module 2 deals with the Redemption of Debentures, highlighting the statutory provisions, creation of the Debenture Redemption Reserve (DRR), different methods of redemption, and the essential accounting treatments involved.
