We are delighted to present this book titled “Textbook of Botany Course – I Major”, meticulously prepared to align with the Second Year B.Sc. Botany syllabus under the NEP 2020 framework, University of Mumbai.

The book is structured to provide students with a strong foundational understanding of lower Cryptogamic plant groups—those fascinating nonflowering organisms that played a crucial role in the evolutionary history of terrestrial flora. The contents of this volume are organised into two comprehensive modules.

Module 1 explores the structural diversity, classification, ecological significance, and life cycles of representative genera through the lens of systematics and functional biology. Module 2 delves into Bryophytes and Pteridophytes, representing the first amphibian and true vascular plants respectively.
