Dr. N.A. Charantimath

Dr. N. A. Charantimath is a Graduate in Commerce, Law and Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. He secured Fourth Rank to Karnataka University in Commerce degree. In 2003, Karnataka University awarded him a Ph. D. Degree for the Thesis on ‘Corporate Governance in India’: A study of Indian corporate Sector in the context of Economic Liberalization and Globalization. He is a practicing Chartered Accountant for the last 26 years. He is also an Academician during the last 30 years in India. Presently, Hon. Chairman and Visiting Faculty at Institute of Excellence in Management Science (IEMS), Hubli, Karnataka. He has presented various technical papers and served as moderator/chairman in seminars and conference in India organized by C.A. Institute, Universities, Educational Institutes, Professional Organisations, Trade, Industry and NGOs. His articles were published in leading newspapers and magazines. He held various posts as Chairman/President, Secretary of Professional Institute and NGOs including Rotary Club and Sub-committees of Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He was adjudged Best President of Rotary Club and bagged International Awards for excellence in service in 1999-2000 in RI Dist. 3170. He was an executive committee member of Karnataka State Chartered Accountant’s Association, Bangalore for 14 years and held various positions. He was one of the invitee members of the Company Law and Corporate Governance Committee of FICCI, New Delhi. He is visiting faculty member of Law, Management and Research Institutes in Karnataka. He has authored research articles on the role of Independent Director in corporate governance; global perspectives and emerging trends; corporate governance and business ethics which are published as background materials in National level training programs of Independent Directors by the ICAI, New Delhi and for National Seminars of Karnataka University during 2005-09. He contributed regular articles on ‘VAT’ in 2005-07 to an English Newspapers. He has addressed special meets of University level professors in a number of orientation programs on Corporate governance and Business Ethics in India. He has also authored books on professional subjects, viz. Audit Committee and Good Governance, Code of Conduct for Corporate Director and Business Law. He has a special experience in teaching corporate and business laws to the graduate, post-graduate and professional courses for 20 years.
