Dr. Prashant Tiwari
Dr. Prashant Tiwari, Ph.D., serves as an Associate Professor in Pharmacology at the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dayananda Sagar University, Bengaluru, India. Holding a doctorate from Siksha O Anusandhan University, Bhubaneswar, and previously an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) fellow, Dr. Tiwari boasts over 14 years of expertise in teaching and research. His work spans drug screening, brain-targeted drug delivery, revalidation of drug-induced dyskinesia, and studying the neuroprotective properties of benzimidazole derivatives. Key contributions include research on Nanoemulsions with Lepidium sativum oil for Parkinson’s treatment and Muntingia Calabura leaf extract for Alzheimer’s therapy. In 2022, his outstanding thesis in Pharmaceutical Sciences earned him the Dr. P. D. Patil National Award.
Dr. Tiwari’s academic portfolio includes authoring and editing 5 books each, co-authoring 6 book chapters, and filing 7 patents (with 2 granted). He organised a National e-seminar on neurodegenerative drug delivery, sponsored by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. A recipient of accolades such as the ICMR Senior Research Fellowship, Young Scientist Award, and Best Teacher Award, he mentors 5 Ph.D. scholars and has guided 9 M.Pharm. students. Furthermore, he actively contributes to professional bodies, reviews for International journals, and pursues research in neurodegenerative diseases, drug interactions, pharmacokinetics/pharmacodynamics, and metabolic disorders.
