Professor N.S. Gupta is one of the senior most Professors of Management in the country. He laid the foundation of Commerce and Management education in Jammu & Kashmir. He is associated with teaching and research in Commerce and Management Discipline for the last many decades. He has been Professor and Dean, Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies (now Faculty of Business Studies) University of Jammu, for many years. He is actively associated with teaching, research and consultancy. He has guided a large number of students for their Ph.D. programme. He has written twenty-four books and a large number of Papers published in Journals of India and abroad and completed about a dozen research projects. Professor Gupta has been associated with many national and international organisations. He has been the President of Indian Commerce Association, Member of the Board of IDBI and a number of social organisations associated with socio-economic development of the country. He is the Chairman of Society for Socio-economic Upliftment of Rural and Urban Poor and the Director, Institute of Management and Finance, Jammu. His research input in the form of Government reports, project reports, Management Development Programmes for Executives in business and government is substantial.
