Dr. S.B. Bommanahalli, IAS [Rtd.], who is presently working as Karnataka State Information Commissioner has always been an avid administrator and a service oriented bureaucrat. He had served in the capacity of Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Belagavi and Dharwad along with having served as a Director for Horticulture, Department of Horticulture, Bengaluru.  In the capacity of Deputy Commissioner of Belagavi, Dr. S. B. Bommanahalli successfully managed and efficiently handled  one of the worst ever floods of 2019 and post flood rehabilitation, resettlement and reconstruction. In the capacity of Deputy Commissioner of Dharwad, he facilitated opening and functioning of institutions of national importance like IIT Dharwad and IIIT Dharwad. Furthermore, in the capacity of Director of Department of Horticulture, Bengaluru, he played a vital role in successfully procuring potato seeds  for the first time by the state of Karnataka from Punjab in the year 2015-16 and effectively distributed them to farmers across the state from Horticulture department.
