V.V.N. Somayajulu

Prof. V.V.N. Somayajulu has 53 years PG teaching and research experience, specialising in Inter-Industry Economics Frameworks - Theories, techniques and their applications in Economics of industry and regional development versus other schools of Economic Analysis and Applied Econometrics, to be relevant to developing Indian economy and States/UTs/Backword Regions’ development in India; analysing contemporary economic issues of them and contrasting those studies for the recent decades economic reforms; and identifying the casual factors to get solutions for development in backward sub-regions of States, to fulfill social and economic goals of recent Five Year Plans with Project Appraisal Studies, Input-Output and/or Linear Programming and Econometrics Studies. V.V.N. Somayajulu was a Ford Foundation Fellow, 1964-65; and attained Ph.D. with specialisation in Process Analysis having continuity and product multi-dimensionality problems for a discrete and finite sector specialisation, useful for Inter-Industry Economics Frameworks Studies - 1970, at Gokhale Institute of Politics and Economics (GIPE), University of Pune where he taught and did research projects in Inter-Industry Economics Frameworks. He conducted a project of backward district (Jalna) of Maharashtra, Refresher Courses to CSO/ISS Officers of States/UTs in areas of National and Regional Input-Output (I-O) Tables and their uses in I-O Models and Applications for Development Planning and Policy Frame; 16th International and 17th National Conferences, as Secretary of Input-Output Research Association (IORA), India w.e.f. May, 2011 at GIPE. V.V.N. Somayajulu did major breakthrough innovations in PG Courses and research projects and publications of 11 books by reputed publishers and 75 Research Papers in the best journals in India and abroad, while he was a professor at Central School of Planning and Statistics (SGPIS), Warsaw for one year 1985-1986 and at German Democratic Republic (GDR), 1979; at Central University of Hyderabad, 1979-2009; and at National Council of Applied Economic Research, New Delhi, 1970-79; Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani; Madurai University and Indian Institute of Economics where taught (PG) and did research projects sponsored by UGC, ICSR, Planning Commission, Different Ministries of the Government of India, REC, SAIL, NEC, Different State Governments and Conferences of IORA, India.
