This book is prepared by taking guidelines from UGC syllabus as prescribed by University of Mumbai for the F.Y. B.Sc. Class. This syllabus comes into effect from the academic year 2016-17
The concept of curved arrows and the formal charges is included as the students should be aware of them. The theoretical aspects of Organic Chemistry such as reactive species, hybridisation, electronic effects, H-bonding, etd. have been thoroughly explained. On the basis of these principles, the mechanism of organic reactions has been introduced taking selective examples.
The basic concepts of steereochemistry have been explained by taking simple examples. Throughout the book, IUPAC Names have been used to familiarise the students with this system os nomenclature. The basic chemistry of both aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons is included. the concept of aromaticity and its various aspects have been explained. The emphasis is laid on the reactions of the functional groups and their interconversions.
