There has been revolutionary changes in the field of management from the period of F.W. Taylor -“The Father of Scientific Management” to the peiod of Peter Drucker – “The Father of Modern Management”. The world has changed, is changing and will continue to change.

Besides reengineering and globalisation, organisations today emphasise technology, leadership and change management. One thig that hasn’t changed, though and never will, is the importance of good management. Organisations can’t survive for long without it. Well managed copanies are competitive because their workforces are smart, better trained, more motivated and more committed. Furthermore, good management leads to satisfied employees, who in turn, provide better service to customers, and thereby improving customer satisfation. Finally, companies that practice good management consistently have greater revenue and profits than companies that don’t.

Organisational behaviour – the study of human behaviour, attitudes and performance in organisations -provide value addition to the knowledge of individuals and teams at all levels of the organisation. The study and practice known as organisational behaviour goes beyond the integration and application of behavioural science to work situations. It is an emerging field in which many questions and opportunities for improvement remain.
