The book on “Rent Seeking and Value Maximization: An Exploratory Study of Selected Listed Indian Companies” was the basis for the author’s thesis for doctoral studies. Rent seeking is an unexplained and a generally unexplored concept in India and the world. More so, using it as a tool to examine its impact on the value maximization of listed Indian companies is unheard of. In simple terms, Rent seeking is an unproductive activity indulged by an entity to seek undue advantage or benefits from bureaucrats, politicians or government. Such an act distributes wealth disproportionately among a few privileged at the cost of society at large.
The depth of the research can be better understood by going through the unique approach and detailed analysis as outlined in the book. The conclusions and findings acknowledge the fact that rent seeking activities is prevalent in corporate sectors and allows for further discussion to add to the observations made in the thesis.
The book has been presented in simple lucid language. The intention of the book is to allow the reader to understand, without ambiguity, the nuances and implications of rent seeking practices on society.
