Landless labourers, borderline farmers, rural artisans and other small-scale workers make up a large number of people below the poverty line, who reside in rural parts of the country.
Farmers and agricultural workers are socially and economically one of the underprivileged individuals of the nation. In such an unfortunate circumstance, they are left with no/low output assets, irregular jobs and less wages, which results in deprived living environments, poor competences and disturbs the entire economy. Farmers cannot back off from the harsh experiences of natural calamities like droughts and floods, which completely destroy the life of crops. The lack of rural redundancy is intensified by the speedy growth of inhabitants and labour force in recent times. The surplus labour force was unable to mover to the industrial segment because of the sluggish development rate of that sector. Even today, farmers remain underprivileged due to absence if necessary developments and unsuitable operational and technical advancements. They majorly belong to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, which exposes them to oppression and makes it tough for them to fight for their rights. A few immediate actions that are vital to establish a fair and ethical working environment for farmers and labourers areabolition of bonded labour, providing land to landless labourers, provision of housing sites, special schemes and strategies to create more employment opportunities.
