Mathmatics provides a system of logic which is helpful in analysing many theoretical and practical problems in any science including Management, Social Sciences and Humanities. There are a number of symbols and graphic devices to make the mathematical language precise and lucid. Above all, mathematics imparts and ability to manoeuvre with figures. Such an ability is very beneficial in the modern age where quantitative techniques are employed increasingly for decision-making in various walks of life including management. Infact, a new field of applied mathematics has come into prominence under the name of Business Mathematics, which has now been introduced in all Business Courses. Modern mathematics also forms part of it. The need for this arose because in the designing of computers and in the preparation of programs fed into these machines its knowledge is very useful.
The syllabus of Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) course prescribes Business Mathematics paper at its Examination. But putting nearly whole of the syllabus made the task for the students very challenging. More so because there was no book earlier which could cover the entire syllabus and in the manner that the students could grasp the subject without any tutorial guidance.
It was to fulfil this deed that we decided to write this book. The main merit which we like to claim for the book is its simplicity. The book provides quite a large number of illustrations and equally numerous exercises with answers for practice. With the coverage provided to the syllabus in the book there is a satisfaction that a student will not be required to look to other texts for supplementing his reading.
