Dr. G.L. Sharma joined Punjab Government Education Department in 1962 and was Head of the Department of Commerce, Government College Ludhiana (1963-66). He joined Ramanujan College (Delhi University) in 1966. During 1982-1985, he was Reader in Finance, Department of Business Administration, Ahmedu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. He joined Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management in 1996 and has worked in various capacities. He has authored, co-authored and edited over a dozen books including Advanced Cost Accounting, Corporate Finance: Emerging Options, Contemporary Issues in Business Finance and Taxation, A Report on Management of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme: Issues and Challenges, Potential for Entrepreneurial Activities in the Rural Areas of Delhi: An Explorative Study, Financial Systems and its Regulations in India (2016) and Ease of Doing Business in India: Critical Assessment (2019). He has widely travelled both in India and abroad.
