Dr. Nirmal Chandra Roy MBA, DHM, DLL, Ph.D., is an accomplished academic and researcher serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Administration (Human Resource) at the University of Burdwan, West Bengal, India. He holds an MBA in Human Resource and Marketing from the University of North Bengal, along with diplomas in Labour Laws (DLL) and Hotel Management (DHM). He was awarded the JRF by the UGC in 2015 and completed his Ph.D. from Vidyasagar University in 2020.
A life member of the Indian Commerce Association, Indian Accounting Association, and Indian Academy of Management, Dr. Roy has authored three books: Human Resource Management in the Indian Tea Industry (Routledge, UK, 2021), Organisational Behaviour (Crescent Publishing, 2022), and Production and Operations Management (Himalaya Publishing, 2024). He has published over 40 research articles and case studies in Scopus, Web of Science, and ABDC-listed journals, presented more than 50 papers at National and International conferences. In addition to his scholarly contributions, Dr. Roy holds a design patent for a “Data Processing Device for Receiving and Analysing Consumer Feedback” (2024) and a copyright for “Business Model for Small Scale Handicraft Industry in West Bengal” (2025).
Dr. Roy has delivered invited lectures in India and abroad, conducted training programs for organisations such as Tea Board India, WBSEDCL, SLI, DIC, and RSETI, and organised International webinars on work and employment relations. He has also provided consultancy services to the Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL). His research and professional contributions have been recognised with several awards, including Best Paper Presenter (2021, 2023), Second Best Case Study Award in Entrepreneurship (2022), and Financial Incentive Awards at the West Bengal State Science & Technology Congress (2023).
