Government of Karnataka has introduced State Education Policy at degree level from 2024-25. All the three faculties including Business education are having multi-disciplinary approach and have wide scope for skill-based learning.

More than two decades have been elapsed, ever since the “New Economic Policy” (GLP policy) was introduced in the country. Indian economy started shining since 1991. All the sectors of business have grown leaps and bounds with a new look. Service sector has substantially grown and is making a significant contribution to the GDP (around 50 per cent in 2022). The business environment in the country is congenial, with the supportive legislations of the Central and State governments. An attempt in this book is made to briefly analyze the contributing factors to business environment such as social, legal, cultural political, demographic, technological and economic. Impact of GLP Policy on Indian economy is also analyzed. The impact of New Economic Policy (NEP) on business environment of India is briefly analyzed.

This work is prepared keeping in view the syllabus on Business Environment prescribed for first semester of B.Com course in the Bengaluru City University. We feel that students enjoy the reading of this book. Graded questions and practical exercise are given at the end of each chapter for self-learning. Skill exercise is also given for self-learning.
