Human Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology form the fundamental basic subject in Pharmacy education for understanding the structure, function, and disease processes of the human body. This course is designed to provide a comprehensive knowledge of the organization of the human body from the cellular level to complex organ systems, along with the mechanisms that maintain normal physiological functions.
The subject also emphasizes the importance of homeostasis and explains how disturbances at the cellular and systemic levels lead to various pathological conditions. It integrates the study of normal body functions with the underlying causes, development, and effects of diseases, which is essential for students in the field of pharmacy and healthcare.
This textbook has been prepared strictly in accordance with the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) New Restructured Curriculum (2026–27) for Bachelor of Pharmacy First Year, First Semester students to understand easily information on various units such as the introduction to the human body, integumentary system, skeletal system, blood and lymphatic system, nervous system, special senses, and cardiovascular system. It also highlights important pathological conditions including anemia, hemophilia, leprosy, gout, hypertension, and cardiovascular disorders, enabling better clinical understanding and to facilitate effective examination preparation, each unit includes onemark questions, short-answer questions, long-answer questions, objective questions, and their answers.
The objective of preparing this book is to strengthen theoretical knowledge, enhance practical understanding, and develop the ability to correlate normal physiology with disease conditions. This will serve as a strong foundation for further studies in pharmacology, therapeutics, and clinical practice.
