Industrial Relations is a major force which influences the social, political and economic development of a country. Managing industrial relations is a challenging task because it deals with a highly complex, fast developing, ever-changing and expanding field. There are certain factors such as composition of working class, work environment, socio-economic status of the workers and their attitude to work, management’s ideology, role of the state and thinking of the community, which have a considerable bearing on the state of relationship between labour and management.
