We are overwhelming by response and appreciation by the reader of our first FY B.Sc. Textbook entitled “Cytogenetics, Ecology and Environment Conservation”. In continuation with this we feel immense pleasure and enthusiasm to present this second book entitled “Plant Anatomy and Applications of Botanicals” for Scheme 1 and 2 students of first-year B.Sc. Botany. This textbook precisely designed to align with the revised National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 syllabus as framed by the Board of Studies (BOS), University of Mumbai, which has been introduced from the academic year 2024-25. This book aims to nurture foundational understanding in very simple language while fostering critical thinking on plant science in line with the multidisciplinary and learner-centric principles emphasized by NEP 2020.
We worked together towards making the subject interesting in this textbook, which ensures that students are equipped with theoretical knowledge and concepts, enabling them to explore both classical and modern aspects of the subject in clear, concise language with illustrative diagrams for easy comprehension. The syllabus covered in this book spans four broad modules that encompass simple concepts of plant anatomy, Application of botanicals, foundational concepts in cell biology and genetics and the pivotal field of ecology and environmental conservation.
