The present textbook, Psychological Theories and HR Practices, has been carefully prepared in accordance with the syllabus prescribed by Nagpur University under the BBA NEP Semester IV programme. The objective of this book is to provide students with a clear understanding of psychological concepts and their practical application in human resource management and workplace behaviour.
In today’s dynamic business environment, understanding human behaviour has become essential for organizational success. Psychological theories help in understanding employee motivation, group behaviour, leadership, decision-making, employee welfare, and organizational development. This book aims to bridge the gap between psychological principles and HR practices by presenting the concepts in a simple, systematic, and student-friendly manner.
The book is divided into four units as per the Nagpur University syllabus. Unit I introduces the fundamentals of psychology, including its meaning, scope, nature, and methods of studying psychology, along with the role and application of psychology in workplace behaviour. Unit II focuses on psychological theories in workplace behaviour, social motivation, group processes, decision-making, and group dynamics. Unit III explains employee remuneration, incentives, fringe benefits, employee welfare, health and safety, and social security measures. Unit IV covers International Human Resource Management, modern HR practices, HR trends, talent management, and human capital management.
This textbook is primarily written for BBA students; therefore, every effort has been made to present the subject matter in a simple language with suitable examples for easy understanding. At the end, references are provided for further reading and deeper knowledge.
