The book Contribution of the Jains to the Cultural Life of Bombay (1900–2000) traces the history of the Jain community in the context of Bombay (Mumbai). It captures the unique Jain flavour and spirit that community has evolved even in the urban life. The endeavour is to gain insight into multiple aspects of Bombay’s cultural life the Jains have influenced. It presents an interesting journey through variety of arenas like education, literature, journalism, associations, food, cinema and religious structures. The work analyses the city and the Jain community in the backdrop of the twentieth century on the basis of field study, primary and secondary sources. The present study offers reading into Contemporary Indian History, Urban Study, Religious Study, Jain Studies, South Asian Studies, Ethnography and Cultural Studies.
