It gives us immense pleasure to present the First Edition of “Mutual Fund Distributor – II” designed exclusively for the students of S.Y.BAF, Semester IV, University of Mumbai. This book has been developed in accordance with the New Syllabus and Paper Pattern introduced under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and is applicable from the academic year 2025–26.
Where the previous volume established the fundamentals of the investment landscape and basic fund mechanics, this textbook delves deep into the regulatory, operational and performance analysis skills absolutely essential for a successful mutual fund distributor. It transitions the learner from introductory concepts to advanced professional application in the field.
This book is structured into two comprehensive modules. Module 1 focuses on the Legal, Regulatory and Distribution Framework, detailing the Role of Regulators (especially SEBI) in India, mandatory regulations like investment restrictions and the AMFI Code of Conduct and the operational aspects of Fund Distribution. This includes different distributor types, revenue models (e.g., Trail Commission) and the distinction from Investment Advisers. Module 2 concentrates on Scheme Information and Performance Analysis. It provides a meticulous study of Mandatory Documents (SID, KIM, SAI), a classification of General and Specific Risks (e.g., Liquidity, Derivatives risk) and practical, illustrated methods for calculating and interpreting key Measures of Returns (like CAGR) and Measures of Risk (Standard Deviation, Beta). The inclusion of practical illustrations, conceptual exercises and Illustrative Sums ensures an experiential and industry relevant learning experience.
Each sub-unit concludes with a Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE) section comprising MCQs, True or False, Conceptual Application Exercises, Short Notes, Illustrative Sums and Role Play Activity to foster applied learning, critical thinking and collaborative engagement.
